We are excited to announce that The Knox School has been named to the College Board’s 2024 Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll, earning the prestigious Bronze distinction! This honor recognizes our ongoing commitment to providing students with rigorous academic opportunities and preparing them for college-level success.
The AP School Honor Roll acknowledges schools across the United States that expand access to Advanced Placement courses while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students who earn scores of 3 or higher on AP exams. Schools on the Honor Roll demonstrate their ability to challenge students at the highest academic levels and foster an environment where more students feel confident in taking on these challenges. Being recognized by the College Board is a significant achievement that reflects the strength of Knox’s academic programs and the expertise of its faculty.
Dean of Academics Donna Pergola shared her pride and appreciation for this accomplishment with her faculty:
“I just wanted to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to every single one of you. I know sometimes I push a lot of goals and ideas, and we don’t always see the ‘perks’ of them immediately, but this is exactly the type of acknowledgment we deserve and have been working towards. We have been adding new AP classes each year, and with our tracking/major program, the personalized plan each of our students will follow will continue to improve our overall scores and involvement in the AP program.”
This recognition is a testament to our students’ dedication and the hard work of our faculty. In 2024, 47% of our senior class took at least one AP exam, with 27% achieving a score of 3 or higher, qualifying them for college credit at many institutions. Notably, 7% of our seniors challenged themselves by taking five or more AP exams—an impressive feat that demonstrates both perseverance and academic rigor.
Ms. Pergola continued, “So thank you for all that you do with our students daily in and out of the classroom, and congratulations to all the AP teachers!”
The AP School Honor Roll not only highlights the academic excellence we strive for at Knox but also underscores the importance of expanding access to advanced coursework. By offering a growing number of AP courses and fostering individualized student plans through our tracking/major program, we ensure that more students have the opportunity to succeed in these demanding courses. This achievement reinforces our belief that every student can rise to the challenge with the right support and guidance.
This is a moment of great pride for The Knox School, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to provide exceptional educational opportunities for our students. Congratulations again to our students, faculty, and especially our AP teachers! Together, we are achieving remarkable things.
